Float Equipment
Target cement placement with precision.
Float equipment is comprised of float collars, float shoes, and guide shoes. They are used in the lower section of the well as part of the V-Line (Vecturon / Vectraset) shoe track to achieve precise placement and integrity of cement in the annulus. Float Shoes serve several functions. They guide the casing, provide a barrier to prohibit wellbore fluid and pressure from entering the casing string during installation and serve as the primary valve during the cementing operations.
Float Collars
Float Collars
A float collar is installed one joint of casing above the float or guide shoe. The backpressure check valve(s) allow fluid circulation to flow only in one direction.
Product Features:
- Available in 2 7/8″ to 20″ sizes in various materials and threads
- Standard and high-pressure configurations available: 5k psi – 15k psi
- Single valve, dual valve, or autofill options
- Standard design has a flat profile and is compatible with standard plugs
- PDC drillable
Float Shoes
Float Shoes
A float shoe is the primary valve during cementing operations. It guides the casing and provides a barrier, prohibiting wellbore fluid and pressure from entering the casing string during installation. A float shoe can also run with a float collar for redundancy.
- Up jet, down jet, or side jet porting options
- PDC drillable
Guide Shoes
Guide Shoes
Guide shoes enable fluid circulation for mud conditioning, hole cleaning, and cement placement. Guide shoes run on the bottom of a casing string to guide the casing toward the center of the hole and help the casing string past annular irregularities.
Product Features:
- Available in 2 7/8″ to 20″ sizes in various materials and threads
- Common designs include cement noses, eccentric noses, and saw tooth patterns
- More economical than a float shoe
Reamer Shoes
Reamer Shoes
Running casing or liners takes time, and when disruptions occur, well costs rise.
V-ream shoes give operators the assurance to confidently navigate ledges and swelling formations to land casing string the first time. The shoes use a bullet or eccentric nose to guide the string, pads for stabilization, and are dressed with carbide for robust reaming and hole cleaning operations.
Ports in the nose offer 360 degrees jetted flow area to aid hole cleaning, and operational float valves provide backflow control after reaming or cementing operations are complete.
Product Features:
- Available in various sizes, materials and threads
- Solid, one-piece reamer body
- Shoes are dressed to meet customer hole specs
- Float valve option: single or dual with 5k psi or 10k psi rated valves
- Available with either aluminum or composite noses
